It's Jelly Time!

Have fun:

Happy Birthday to Me!

What a great way to celebrate my birthday. I am one subscription short of 500 for my newsletter and I've sold 70 books, so far. Wheee! Very happy about that.

Best of all, readers let me know how much they like the column (and book!) and that always makes my day. I'm glad that I can bring some laughs to stressed parents (and grandparents) and refresh them for the next wave of kid antics.

Bec is doing okay. Not always eating as many calories as we'd like so I think we are very near calling to get her a feeding tube. I'm only trying to hold off as long as possible so she can still enjoy some of her favorite foods. We do everything we can to let her enjoy life as SHE wants to, but she does feel more comfortable in the wheelchair more often than not and you can see that she's just having a hard time eating.

Today she fell off the sofa trying to get down on her own. Her pride was hurt more than anything else. You could hear how frustrated she is. Dad held her and made it all better and then Boo's number one hero (SPONGEBOB) came on the television, so all is well in her world now. She keeps bursting into fits of laughter.

One of my errands today is to take Aiden to the store with me and buy tons of strawberries for a pie for my birthday. His birthday is just a week after mine, and he's already seen his older brother and sisters celebrate theirs this month, so he's really looking forward to celebrating his own.

I plan to make his eyes pop out with lots of decorations, presents, music and a cake AND dad is making Aiden's favorite - trifle.

April birthdays...

Three down, one more to go.

Rachel & Nicole celebrated their 12th birthdays on the 5th. JD just turned 9 yesterday and in approximately one week I will be 37! Really looking forward to that. :) This year I think I will make the traditional dessert I used to have when I was a kid for my birthday - strawberry pie. And traditionally this pie is over six inches high!! Bring on the whipped cream!

Been taking pictures of the kiddos and will update their pics soon.

Happy April birthdays to my niece Sarah and my nephew Junior!

Next in line...Papa's birthday (my dad) and Aiden's 3rd birthday.

Happy birthday to Aiden's Godmom, Sassy! XX OO

Bec is doing okay

She's more comfortable in her wheelchair now than she is trying to get around on her own. It's comfy and she can see television better and eat in more comfort since she's too big for a regular booster seat or highchair.

She LOVES to play with her feet. And when she's in the mood she'll spend all day putting blocks in and out of a box.

I have tons of mail that she's received that I need to get up on her walls...I'll have to take some pictures and post them. Sounds like a good plan for the week.

Jack the Cuddly Dog

Is there a CUTER dog than this? Meet Jack the Cuddly Dog! http://www.jackthecuddlydog.com We LOVE him!

We have the DVD and it's awesome. The adorable Jack, the beautiful cinematography and the WONDERFUL background music by Bach, Chopin, Beethoven, etc.

This is a DVD I can watch over and over. My soon-to-be three year old, Aiden, and Becca Boo LOVE Jack. Aiden is so proud that he can name all the animals, colors and shapes. A very good DVD all around.

Check it out on their website. You can even pre-view the DVD AND they offer a full refund if YOUR kiddo doesn't fall in love with Jack.

This is a SMART use of television and one I'm happy to tell other parents about. Even though my kiddos are growing, I'm still going to keep a lookout for more from Jack the Cuddly Dog - for me! Who knows? One day I may have some grandbabies that will love Jack, too. :)

Prayers for my older kiddos, please

Dealing with their sister's illness is really hard on them. My oldest children are only twelve and it seems to them as if everything in (their) life is just hurt and pain.

Thank you to the big-hearted people who send happy mail to all the kids. You really do bring joy. Those letters and cards are like rays of sunshine breaking through the dismal clouds.

My husband and I are planning to take the older kids out to the Santa Cruz Beach & Boardwalk in June and we are planning other things we can do with them and break up the ongoing pain with some fun.

As always, your prayers see us through. AMEN.

Happy Easter....

Haven't been able to blog much since I got back from Ohio. Evidently, five days away from the family equals five weeks of catching up when I get home!

I hope you all have a wonderful Easter Sunday.

Speaking of blessings...

Here's the most recent column: http://www.jellymom.com

To blog or not to blog

I'm back! Looks like Blogger has a new feature that filters out SPAM blogs. My blog was on the SPAM blog list, so I had no access and had to have them review my blog and 'white list' it.

Not a problem. Here I am again coming to you live from rain drenched California.

Yesterday I went to pick up my son from school (he attends a school that is about an hour from our house). The rain was so heavy I could barely see a car length ahead of me. SUV drivers, thinking there was no danger of THEM hydro-planing, rode right on my rear bumper.

Well, I guess that was a bad idea. On the way back my son and I saw 10+ cars that had been in a huge accident. I just missed it.

Things like that make you realize how fragile life can be and we're usually never thinking about our mortality. It sure makes you apprecate things a whole lot more.
